My Experience Speaks for Me

A headshot of Liz Wooten, a smiling therapist with warm brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. She is wearing a professional blouse and has a friendly expression.

I’ve been a Board-Certified Counselor for over four years, with a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Webster University. My work has been all about understanding the brain, especially within the neurodiverse community. Right now, I’m taking it even further by pursuing a doctorate in Behavioral Neuroscience.

But let’s get real—degrees are only part of the story. With nearly 14 years of hands-on experience, combined with my own neurodiverse lived experience, I’ve gained a deep understanding of what truly helps. I began my mental health journey supporting kids and families in the Autistic community, both one-on-one and in group settings. That’s where I discovered my passion for helping people embrace their uniqueness, rather than trying to fit into neurotypical molds.

This led me to career counseling, focusing on empowering Autistic individuals to thrive in their professional lives. As I transitioned into my role as a therapist, my focus remained on neurodiversity and trauma. During the height of COVID-19, I worked in ERs, providing crisis support across diverse populations, including those in neurodiverse communities. I don’t just know the theory—I’ve lived it.

If you’re looking for someone who understands, who’s been there, and who’s ready to help you move forward, I’m here. Together, we can make the changes that truly matter to you.

What to Expect in Online Therapy: A Personalized Approach

Let’s cut the cap—you don’t really want to come to the office, and that’s totally fine! If online therapy works for you, then I’m more than happy to meet you there, right where you are. Whether you’re on your couch, sipping coffee, or even in your car during a break (hey, I get it!), therapy is about finding what works best for you.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, whether it’s with the pressures of work, relationships, or just everyday life, you’re definitely not alone. Online therapy offers you the space to breathe, reflect, and get the support you need—all from the comfort of your home. I’m here to help you work through those challenges with care and understanding, and together, we’ll create a personalized approach that fits your unique needs.

In our virtual sessions, I’ll meet you wherever you are—whether that’s dealing with anxiety, feeling stuck in your career, or simply trying to manage the ups and downs of life. Here’s what you can expect when we start working together:

  • Understanding Your Story: We’ll dive into what’s really going on in your life—whether it’s managing anxiety, navigating big transitions, or feeling disconnected. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and emotions in a way that feels safe and supportive.
  • Creating Practical Solutions: Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll work together to build tools and strategies that work for your life. Whether that’s managing stress, creating healthier boundaries, or finding more balance, we’ll find what works best for you.
  • Quieting the Inner Critic: We all have that voice in our heads—the one that tells us we’re not good enough or can’t handle things. Together, we’ll work on shifting that narrative and building up your confidence so you can start trusting yourself more.
  • Setting Goals You Can Achieve: Life goals can feel daunting, especially when everything seems overwhelming. I’ll help you break those big dreams into smaller, achievable steps, so each win feels like progress toward the life you want.
  • Embracing Your Uniqueness: Therapy is about honoring who you are, not about changing you. We’ll celebrate your strengths and work through any challenges in a way that feels affirming and empowering.

Whether you’re joining me from the bustling streets of Tower Grove or the quiet corners of Kirkwood, online therapy gives you the flexibility to focus on your mental health in a way that fits into your life. You can attend sessions from wherever you feel comfortable, without worrying about commutes or scheduling conflicts.

Ready to take the next step? Let’s create a plan that works for you. You can also explore other services I offer, like Autism Therapy or Anxiety Therapy. I’m here to help you navigate the journey to a more fulfilling, confident life.

Why Choose Online Therapy? Flexibility, Privacy, and Comfort

Let’s be honest—life gets busy, and sometimes fitting therapy into a packed schedule can feel impossible. That’s where online therapy shines. It gives you the flexibility to access support on your terms. Whether you’re juggling work, school, or family responsibilities, you can schedule sessions that work for you, without the added stress of commuting or rearranging your day.

  • Flexibility to Fit Your Schedule: Online therapy allows you to book sessions that fit around your busy life. Early mornings, late evenings—whenever you have a moment to focus on yourself, we can meet virtually. No need to worry about drive times or rushing through traffic to make an appointment.
  • Privacy and Confidentiality: Many people feel more comfortable talking about sensitive issues from their own space. Online therapy gives you the chance to speak openly without feeling like you’re sitting in a waiting room or office. You can share from the safety of your home, knowing that privacy and confidentiality are a priority.
  • Comfort in Your Own Space: There’s something about being in your own environment that helps people feel more at ease. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or sipping tea in your kitchen, therapy can feel more relaxed when you’re in a space that’s familiar and comfortable for you.

With online therapy, you get all the benefits of in-person counseling without the hassles. You can connect from anywhere in Missouri, whether you’re nestled in the Ozarks or living in the heart of downtown St. Louis. All you need is a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and the willingness to take that step toward a better, more balanced life.

If you’ve been putting off therapy because it seemed like one more thing to squeeze into your day, online therapy might be exactly what you need. It’s therapy made to fit into your life, on your time, and in a way that works for you.
